Applicants should be proficient in all of the following areas and be able to function successfully in a self-paced instructional environment. - Uncontracted and contracted Braille - Keyboarding - Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP - Basic and advanced Microsoft Word 2007 - Basic and advanced MS Access 2007 - Basic and Advanced MS Excel 2007 - Internet Explorer. - Basic HTML - Basic and advanced MS PowerPoint - Basic Math and English to ABE level - GED Preparation As these courses are offered using adaptive technology and specialized equipment, and software, instructors must have training or equivalent experience and knowledge of devices and software used in the program. Examples include: - Perkins Braille writer - CCTV - Braille embosser - Refreshable Braille displays and notetakers - Scanner and Open Book software - JAWS for Windows and ZoomText software - Duxbury Braille translation software. The following criteria must be met: - A Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis on Special Education - The Provincial Instructor's Diploma or equivalent (completed or in progress) or equivalent certification, ie. We are seeking an energetic individual who will report to the Dean and be a member of the senior management team responsible for the management and operation of the JR Shaw School of Business. Assist Dean’s office in the preparation and administration of a new budget model for JRSSB and FUS. Work with the workload committee to ensure the best utilization of staff from a cross functional perspective. Work with the workload committee and the registrar’s office to ensure the best classroom and lab utilization for the School of Business. This may require a significant adjustment of class block hours to NAIT standard (#:15 - #:10 _ 55 minute blocks). Analyze and predict student flows between daytime, part-time and online course offerings to maximize flexibility for students while considering resource availability constraints. Work to complete business diploma and degree course schedules for advanced timelines as requested by Registrar’s office. Assess the impact of international linkage programs for School of Business recruiting and potential exchange programs to provide opportunities for students and staff Lead the development of a work integrated learning component in the JRSSB Liaise with the VP and other NAIT administrators as may be required Provide leadership of academic and support staff in the absence of the Dean Development/management of certification accreditation initiatives in a timely manner as may be appropriate Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned Qualifications: A relevant doctoral or master’s degree is required together with several years of experience in a post-secondary education setting or dealing at a senior level with post-secondary education related issues.  Preference will be given to candidates possessing a master’s degree combined with a complementary professional designation and relevant industry experience or doctoral degree coupled with significant senior management and/or administrative experience related to post-secondary education. Remuneration:  Will be commensurate with education and experience Note: This is a two year term appointment to support the Dean’s office in the operational design and implementation of the new academic model.   This competition is limited to salaried staff at NAIT.
